Fixed Expanders:

Fixed expanders, also known as palatal expanders, are fixed to the upper teeth and palate. They gradually widen the upper jaw to create more space for crowded teeth, correct bite issues, and improve overall dental alignment. Fixed expanders are an effective solution for achieving proper arch width and symmetry.

Removable Expanders:

Removable expanders offer the flexibility of being taken out for eating, cleaning, and other activities. They function similarly to fixed expanders but can be removed when necessary. Removable expanders are often used in cases where minor expansion is needed or when compliance with wearing the appliance is a concern.

Twin Blocks:

Twin blocks are removable appliances used to treat class 2 malocclusions, where the upper teeth protrude over the lower teeth. They consist of upper and lower components that work together to reposition the lower jaw forward, correcting the bite and improving facial profile. Twin blocks are comfortable to wear and can effectively address overbite issues.

Class 2 Headgear:

Class 2 headgear is a specialised appliance used to correct class 2 malocclusions by applying gentle pressure to the upper jaw and teeth while encouraging proper growth of the lower jaw. This appliance is typically worn at night or during specified hours and can help correct overbite issues and promote optimal jaw alignment.

Reverse Headgear:

Reverse headgear, also known as cervical headgear, is used to treat class 3 malocclusions, where the lower jaw protrudes beyond the upper jaw. It applies gentle force to the upper jaw and teeth, encouraging proper alignment and jaw growth to correct the underbite. Reverse headgear is effective in addressing class 3 malocclusions and improving facial aesthetics.

MARA (Mandibular Anterior Repositioning Appliance):

Mandibular Anterior Repositioning Appliance (MARA) is a fixed appliance used to treat class 2 malocclusions by repositioning the lower jaw forward. It consists of upper and lower components that work together to guide the lower jaw into the correct position, improving the bite and facial profile. MARA is a discreet and effective treatment option for class 2 malocclusions.

Phase 2 Treatment

Phase 2 treatment, also known as “Comprehensive” treatment, occurs after Phase 1 treatment or as a standalone treatment for adolescents or adults with all permanent teeth erupted. The primary goal of Phase 2 treatment is to achieve a fully aligned and functional bite, as well as an aesthetically pleasing smile.

During Phase 2 treatment, dental professionals typically use braces, Invisalign or clear aligners to move the teeth into their final positions and refine the bite alignment. This stage of treatment may also address any remaining orthodontic issues not fully corrected during Phase 1 treatment.
